Versilia Wine Art Festival has come to its second edition. This event will take place from 27th to 29th March, in an open-air scenario, the wonderful city centre of Pietrasanta. It is strictly dedicated to connoisseurs and lovers of art and wine, but it’s open to everyone, as long as Pietrasanta offers many attractions in galleries, museums, restaurants and shops.
Versilia Wine Art Festival presents a wide display of Italian and international wines and an original art group exhibition called “Etichette d’autore – Author’s labels”, curated by art critic and journalist Louis Gierut.
Pietrasanta is situated in the northern part of Tuscany, not far from the sea, 10 km away. It is an important spot for sculpture production and art market: many artists live here and collectors are also well-known.
Wine Art festival is included in the program of The roads of wine and oil in Lucca, Montecarlo and Versilia. Piazza Duomo will host Palavino, a pavilion with 160 exhibitors presenting over 1100 labels.
An open contest will elect the best white wine for the next summer. White wine of the summer 2009 prize was awarded to AA Sauvignon cellar Premstaler Kellerei Kaltern (Trentino Alto Adige). The jury committee, made of experienced journalists will taste which white will be the protagonist of our summer evenings.
That’s it, a mix of local – producers from the Versilia area will offer their typical wines made from ancient grapes, and national – as the presentation and preview tasting of Prosecco wine Docg.
After Piazza Duomo the route of Wine Art continues in the St. Augustine Cloister, with a selection of the Italian tastes: meats, cheeses, honeys, homemade biscuits and many other specialities. Then a corner dedicated to tasting of Champagne and special Italian wines, led by journalists and experts who will be happy to speak about every aspect of the winemaking world.
During the three days of the festival it will be possible to taste special price menus with local products from Tuscany in some restaurants of Pietrasanta, just to enrich this unique gastronomic adventure.
Furthermore Etichette d’autore – Author’s labels is a great collective with important artists and their labels. Sandro Chia, Mauro Capitani, Giuseppe Bartolozzi, Uberto Bonetti, Jonah David Parra, Mauro Capitani, Yoshin Ogata, Marcello Scarselli, Luigi Mormorelli, Roberto Panichi, Lucian Pera, Emanuele De Reggi, Domenico Monteforte, Romano Cosci and many others.
